FAQ

FAQ

The MERTIL course was developed and delivered to all Victorian MCHNs and RMIT/La Trobe MCH students in 2018, and in 2020 is available to current MCH students and MCHNs who missed the 2018 training.

Why can’t I login?

The vast majority of login issues are due to the email address and/or password not being typed in correctly. Your work (or student) email address is your login username. This is not case sensitive. Your password is as provided in your original login email or whatever you most recently changed it to. The password IS case sensitive.

Why haven’t I received my password reset confirmation email?

These emails are generated automatically from the MERTIL platform and as such, may be identified as SPAM by your network. Please check your SPAM or junk folder within your email account. When you locate the email, be sure to mark it as a trusted source so that this problem does not occur again. If you cannot find such an email please contact us on enquiries@mertil.net.au

Why can’t I open the MERTIL website?

This is generally due to firewalls on the network you are using to access the site. Please contact your IT support through your centre to look at options to access the platform. Alternatively, you can access the platform through a home network or device that has different local settings.

Can I change my email address?

Unfortunately no. In MERTIL your organisation’s email address (or your student email address if applicable) operates as your login and must remain the same so that access to the program can be tracked.

How do I access my course?

Courses can be accessed via the homepage (scroll down) or click My Courses in the left side menu. Please contact us if you feel you should have access to a course.

Why can’t I get back to the previous page?

If you look to the top left of your screen there is a ‘back to course‘ tab, this will take you back to the main page of the course  you are working through.

Why can’t I access the next chapter?

The MERTIL program is designed to only allow the user access to the next chapter if the previous chapter e-learning content AND post chapter quiz have been completed. You will see a green tick next to activities you have completed (a grey tick indicates non-completion).
If you have completed a chapter and cannot access the next this may be either: 1) you have not clicked on the “completion of chapter” button on the review slide in the chapter e-learning content or 2) you have not completed the post quiz.

I am having difficulties viewing the online content?

Please check what browser you are using. In particular, our system is not compatible with Microsoft Edge (the icon looks like a fancy blue “e”). We suggest using Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari. Also note that the e-learning window sometimes opens behind your browser window so it can appear that nothing has opened/happened. Please close all your windows or press Alt-Tab until you see it. If the “Launch” page appears but nothing happens when you press the “Launch” button (and you may also get a message that says there is a trouble reading it to the LMS), this may indicate that popups are being blocked. On the page that says “Launch”, have a look in the top right corner (in Chrome it’s at the end of the URL bar). You will need to select “Allow popups always for this site”.

Can I log in to the website from home?

Yes you can, You do not need to be at your organisation to access the website. Just log in to your device at home by going to the website www.mertil.net.au and sign in with your username and password.

Is MERTIL accessible from an iPad or tablet device?

Yes, you can access the MERTIL program from a tablet device; just go to the MERTIL website on your device and log in with your username and password.

Clinical Workshops

There are no MERTIL workshops scheduled or planned for 2020 at this time. However, if you are enrolled in an online course, and a workshop becomes available that you are eligible for, we will email you with details.

Why haven’t I received confirmation of my workshop registration?

These emails are generated automatically from the MERTIL platform and as such, may be identified as SPAM by your network. Please check your SPAM or junk folder within your email account. When you locate the email, be sure to mark it as a trusted source so that this problem does not occur again.

How do I register for a workshop?

There are no MERTIL workshops scheduled or planned for 2020 at this time

2019 MERTIL MCH Course (RMIT and La Trobe students, MCHNs): You can register for one of the MERTIL full-day face to face workshops through your homepage via the horizontal bar at the top of the screen under Workshops. If there is more than one date for your preferred location, you will need to select a date that works for you. We recommend that you check with your coordinator as some teams are attending together, whilst others are splitting up.

2019 Family Violence Leadership (FVL) Training Course: You have already been allocated to a FVL half-day workshop based on the preferences you submitted to DHHS and you have already been registered into that workshop. There is no need for you to register for a workshop.

How can I see which FVL workshop I have been allocated to?

Click the Workshops tab at the top of the page to see a list of the 7 FVL workshops. The words “You are booked for the following session” will appear under the relevant session.

Can I change which workshop I am attending?

2019 MERTIL MCH Course and FVL Course: Yes – you just need to go to the Workshops Tab, and then un-enrol from the workshop you had previously chosen, and select a new session.  Please make sure that you do un-enrol, so we don’t look for you twice! Please note that you will not be able to attend or switch to a workshop that has reached it’s maximum capacity.

2019 How do I indicate my dietary preferences for the workshops?

Please email enquiries@mertil.net.au noting your workshop session.

When are the webinars/case consultations happening?

Two online Q&A webinars and 3 case consultations were recorded for the MERTIL course in 2018-2019. These are available on the website.

MERTIL vs MERTIL Family Violence Leadership Training – what’s the difference and should I be enrolled?

The MERTIL FVL course (2019) is for Victorian Maternal and Child Health Leaders nominated by the Department of Health and Human Services to undertake this family violence leadership training in 2019. You can only undertake this course if DHHS has approved your enrolment.
